Bob Iger has announced that there are plans in the works to add new resorts to Walt Disney World in the coming years. There have been no announcements as to what class of resort they will be or any of the themes, but we can’t wait to see what Disney comes up with, and whether there will be DVC additions to existing resorts or they will be entirely new resorts and new themes all together. We will definitely keep you posted as we learn more!
Below is our article Top 10 Mind Blowing Experiences at the Walt Disney World Resorts by Paula K
The Walt Disney World Resorts are all incredible. Not only do you get to stay in the middle of the magic, but you’ll have special benefits. Resort guests can enjoy Extra Magic Hours, free theme park parking, Disney’s Magical Express, and more. Here are ten experiences that will make you want to stay at a Walt Disney World Resort.
10. Go for a Ride
Looking for something fun to do when you’re taking a day off from the theme parks? Head to The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. That’s where you’ll find Tri-Circle-D Ranch, the home of the Walt Disney World horses. Feel free to walk around and explore. You can also sign up for pony rides, horseback trail rides, carriage rides, or wagon rides. The pace is more relaxed than in the theme parks, but you’ll have just as much fun.
9. Free Movies and Campfires
Don’t think that “free” and “Disney” go hand in hand? You obviously don’t know that there are free movies and campfires located all over Walt Disney World! Ask at your resort where the nearest location is. You can enjoy some time by the fire as a family, and then watch a Disney movie. Newer movies and classics are featured. If the weather is bad, the movie could be moved inside or canceled.
8. A Different View of Wishes
If watching Wishes in your pajamas sounds like the perfect way to end the evening, book a room at one of the Magic Kingdom Resort Area hotels. Make sure you book theme park view, if you’re not sure call 407-939-5277 and talk to someone. If you don’t have a theme park view, you can still enjoy Wishes Nighttime Spectacular from any of the Magic Kingdom hotels. Ask a Cast Member where to find the best viewing area. You can watch the Electrical Water Pageant from the same spots as well.
7. Water Sports
Looking for an adrenaline rush for your day off from the parks? Head to Disney’s Contemporary Resort and check out Sammy Duvall’s Watersports Centre. You’ll have Cinderella Castle as a backdrop as you water ski, parasail, wake board, rent a personal watercraft, and more. It could be the most fun day of your vacation. For reservations or more information, call 407-939-0754.
6. Children’s Activity Centers
Want to spend an evening alone, but still want your kids ages 3-12 to have a great time? There’s a simple solution, make reservations for them at a Children’s Activity Center. There are four to choose from. They’re located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel. Each club offers different age appropriate activities. Your child might become a pirate or maybe learn how to “cook”. The kids will enjoy spending time with others their age, and you’ll be able to take a much needed break.
Vacations are a time to relax and unwind, but a trip to Walt Disney World is rarely relaxing. Schedule some me time and visit a resort spa. At Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort you’ll find Senses. Head to Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel for an appointment at Mandara Spa. You’ll find a full line of treatments at any of the locations. You can relax for an hour or two, or try many different treatments and stay for the entire day. You’ll recharge, and be ready to hit the parks once again.

Pools are important at the Walt Disney World resorts. All of the pools are different, and they are all special. You can’t stay at one resort and then visit the pool of another, but that’s okay. The pools at the resort where you will be staying will still be lots of fun. Generally speaking, the pools at the more expensive hotels are more complex, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t love the pools at the Value Resorts. Many younger children say that their favorite part of their Walt Disney World vacation was the pool, so plan to spend some time in the water.
3. Disney Dining Plan Eligibility
One nice perk about staying on property is that you will be eligible for the Disney Dining Plan. It’s a way that you can pay for your meals ahead of time so that you won’t have that expense hanging over your head. There are different plans to choose from, and Disney will sometimes offer the Quick Service Dining Plan for free. If you purchase a plan that includes table service restaurants, remember that the gratuity is not included. Not all restaurants participate in the Disney Dining Plan, but chances are that your favorites do.
2. Signature Dining
Speaking of dining, some of the best restaurants at Walt Disney World can be found at the resorts. The pace is easier than in the theme parks, you can truly savor and enjoy your meal. You’ll find steak, seafood, Italian, African, sushi, and more. The views from some of the resort signature restaurants are incredible, and you might be able to catch the nightly fireworks. The champion of signature dining is found at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Victoria & Albert’s was recently named one of the best restaurants in the country by TripAdvisor. It’s that extraordinary.
If you truly want a mind blowing experience at the Walt Disney World Resorts, visit as many as possible. They are all uniquely themed, and the details are incredible. You can take a trip to Africa, then travel back in time to the 1950’s. From the lobby to the restaurants to of course your room, you’ll be immersed in the theme your entire stay. Some frequent guests will stay at a different resort each visit so that they can have a different experience each time. Others quickly find a favorite and return to the same place over and over again. Make resort hopping part of your vacation. You’ll soon see how special they all are.
