New Information Comes To Light About Disney World’s Park Closure Timeline

The story of Walt Disney World’s water parks this year has been one of comings and goings. Blizzard Beach celebrated its 30th anniversary in April before closing, while Typhoon Lagoon returned to action on May 1. Just weeks later, Blizzard Beach reopened, setting the stage for something special: from May 21 through September 7, all six parks at the resort were in operation.

This marked the first time since the pandemic that Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, and Typhoon Lagoon were open together. The “Summer of Six Parks” came to a close when Blizzard Beach once again paused operations on September 8, leaving Typhoon Lagoon to continue the season.

Walt Disney World’s official calendar lists Typhoon Lagoon’s schedule through November 29. Orlando’s first big seasonal front usually arrives around October 19, according to Click Orlando, and past years have brought multiple weather-related shutdowns. Guests may see similar temporary closures this year, though the park is expected to stay open into 2026.

Blizzard Beach does not yet have a reopening date. The future may hinge on next year’s winter season, though new information hints at what to expect moving forward.

Earlier this week, Disney Vacation Club revealed the 2026 Moonlight Magic dates. These exclusive events invite members to enjoy select attractions with reduced wait times, entertainment, and complimentary treats after regular park hours. Typhoon Lagoon is on the schedule with three events: June 25, August 4, and August 20.

Here’s the full lineup of Moonlight Magic 2026 dates:

  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom: January 20
  • EPCOT: February 12; September 10
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios: April 22; July 20
  • Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon: June 25; August 4; August 20

By including Typhoon Lagoon, Disney has confirmed the park will be open during that stretch of summer 2026. The detail raises questions about Blizzard Beach’s role. If it does return for the winter season, its operating window would likely close again before June 25, when Typhoon Lagoon’s first Moonlight Magic event takes place.

Blizzard Beach has long been home to attractions for all ages, from Melt-Away Bay and Tike’s Peak to high-speed favorites like Summit Plummet and Toboggan Racers. These experiences have complemented the thrills across the resort’s four theme parks, creating balance for families looking to combine adventure and relaxation.

Resort-wide, 2025 and beyond are bringing sweeping changes. Frontierland is preparing its next era, DinoLand U.S.A. is becoming Tropical Americas, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios is setting the stage for Monstropolis.

Meanwhile, Central Florida remains competitive in theme park entertainment. On May 22, the day after Blizzard Beach reopened, Universal Orlando Resort debuted its Epic Universe theme park.

For Disney Resort hotel guests, Disney Vacation Club Members, Annual Passholders, and cast members, 2025 also brought a new benefit: complimentary water park admission on the day of Resort hotel check-in. This addition gives vacationers even more options to cool off during their stay.

Whether Blizzard Beach returns in the near future or Typhoon Lagoon continues to hold the spotlight, Walt Disney World’s evolving schedule ensures every season feels unique.

At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his… More »
