Disney World has announced the Samawati slide at Animal Kingdom Lodge will close later this year.
Effective September 8, 2025, guests will need to make alternative arrangements for their water fun.
The slide, a popular attraction on the Kidani Village side of the resort, will not be available for use during this period.
Guests should not fret, however, as there are alternative options available. During the closure of the Samawati Springs Pool Slide, visitors can utilize the waterslide at the Uzima Springs Pool, located at Jambo House.
Both pools will remain open for guests to enjoy while the maintenance work is underway, ensuring that water lovers can still have a splashing good time at the resort.
Ongoing Renovations at Animal Kingdom Lodge

Beyond the temporary closure of the pool slide, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is set to undergo substantial renovations. The extensive refurbishment plans aim to modernize the accommodations and enhance the overall guest experience. Work will commence in October 2025, focusing on the Kidani Village area first, with improvements expected to last until May 2026.
Once the renovations at Kidani Village are complete, Disney plans to move on to the Jambo House section of the resort. This phase of the renovation is projected to continue through January 2027. The goal of these improvements is to ensure that the experiences and amenities of Animal Kingdom Lodge remain at the forefront of luxury and comfort for all who stay there.
One of the standout aspects of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is its commitment to providing guests with an immersive, wildlife-themed experience. Additionally, the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is also in the midst of significant renovations. Along with modern furnishings and updated features, plans for a new lobby bar promise to elevate the ambiance and offerings available at this iconic destination.
