As we previously shared, Major League Soccer is set to hold a “MLS is Back Tournament” at Walt Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports July 8 – August 11. FC Dallas, one of the 26 teams, is withdrawing from the tournament as 10 players and 1 coach tested positive for COVID-19.

FC Dallas made the following statement on Twitter:

ESPN shares comments from MLS commissioner Don Garber stating: “It was our view that with as many Dallas players that have tested positive, they have to go into quarantine, it would not allow them to train and would put them into a position where they wouldn’t be able to compete in the tournament and do so in a way that would be within our protocol,” Garber said. “It was a tough decision to make, but one we felt was the right decision for the MLS is Back Tournament.”
