Chicago welcomed a burst of Walt Disney World charm on Saturday as several of the resort’s most recognizable characters traveled from Central Florida to take part in this year’s Magnificent Mile Lights Festival. The long-running celebration, famous for featuring the nation’s largest nighttime parade, drew crowds eager to see Mickey and Minnie Mouse light the iconic Michigan Avenue.

The evening’s excitement began when Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse appeared to start the lighting sequences that moved block by block along Michigan Avenue. Festivalgoers watched the duo lead countdowns that triggered waves of twinkling lights across the towering trees lining the street.

With just months until the premiere of Toy Story 5 (2026), Buzz Lightyear and Woody joined the parade in their festive outfits. Their float featured the Pixar ball, decorative presents, colorful blocks, and several alien companions.

After the box office success of live-action Lilo & Stitch (2025), Stitch rode alongside Goofy in a snowy gazebo-style float. The pair entertained spectators with imaginary snowball fights and other mischievous antics.

Finally, children cheered as Anna and Elsa from Frozen (2013) passed by in a horse-drawn carriage. Anna stayed cozy beneath a blanket while Elsa greeted the crowd, unbothered by the wintry air that swept across Michigan Avenue.
A Touch of EPCOT in the Windy City
Before the parade began, the Voices of Liberty from EPCOT’s American Adventure World Showcase Pavilion performed at Lights Festival Lane. Their harmonies were familiar to Disney Parks fans who have visited Walt Disney World Resort during the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays.
