A man has been arrested following a fake wedding ceremony planned for Disneyland.

The man behind the fake wedding at Disneyland Paris has been identified as 39-year-old Jacky Jhaj.
This incident unfolded early in June when it was discovered that Jhaj was orchestrating a wedding event that involved a young girl, who was meant to play the part of the bride.
Reports indicated that Jhaj and his crew had invested a staggering amount of approximately £110,000, or nearly $150,000 USD, to secure this private event at Disneyland. It was meant to take place before the park opened its doors to the public. Unfortunately for Jhaj, his plans were taken down by the quick actions of the Disneyland staff, who reported the suspicious activity to security shortly after noticing the young girl involved.
Jhaj was subsequently charged with several serious offenses, including fraud, breach of trust, money laundering, and identity theft. These charges stem from not only the curtailing of the wedding but also from various deceptive practices he employed to orchestrate the event.

The circumstances surrounding the wedding drew further scrutiny given the involvement of minors, particularly the child who was designated as the bride. The young girl, described as a Ukrainian national, had only arrived in France two days prior to the ill-fated wedding attempt. Notably, other minors were also involved in the staged event, further complicating Jhaj’s legal issues. The guardians of these children could face serious repercussions for their roles in permitting such a troubling arrangement. It was reported that Jhaj had hired various individuals, including a Latvian woman who was supposed to play the role of the bride’s sister and a man meant to portray her father, signaling a broader network of complicity in the scheme.
Prosecutors indicated that an extensive inquiry would delve into Jhaj’s financial transactions to uncover any fraudulent activities associated with the fake wedding. Given the gravity of the situation, authorities were keen on uncovering any illicit financial practices Jhaj may have engaged in as part of the preparation for the event. The investigation was expected to reveal more about how Jhaj acquired the funds for the event and whether any part of the financial dealings were linked to illegal sources.
Jacky Jhaj’s recent arrest and the ensuing scandal were not his first encounter with the law. His past offenses included his placement on the UK sex offender registry following sexual activity with two underage girls in 2016. This history of troubling behavior cast a long shadow over his recent actions, contributing to the gravity of the current charges against him.
Additionally, Jhaj had previously encountered legal troubles related to staging productions involving minors. Reports surfaced that in 2023, he had allegedly orchestrated an event where hundreds of children were hired to act as fake fans, further evidencing a pattern of concerning behavior towards children and minors.
