This morning, Disney shared that Major League Soccer (MLS) will resume its 25th season at Walt Disney World Resort, hosting the MLS is Back Tournament at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex from July 8 to August 11! Of course, the first question we asked ourselves which was not in Disney’s announcement… where are the players staying?
While Disney did not make the housing announcement, MLSSoccer.com did release details on the health and safety protocols the teams will be taking part in. They also included the following under the “Prevention” portion of their guidelines:
“In addition to the screenings and testing described above, an MLS task force has worked with leading experts to create guidelines and best practices to help reduce risk and prevent spread of COVID-19. These include:
- Wearing face coverings / face masks;
- Social distancing;
- General hygiene (Ex. avoid touching face, washing hands frequently, avoid sharing food, bottles, towels or equipment);
- Cleaning and sanitization (disinfecting surfaces).
The Walt Disney World Resort and the Swan and Dolphin Hotel will be providing enhanced cleaning of all venues and enforcing appropriate capacity-management and other social distancing guidelines.“

We recently shared that according to Swan & Dolphin’s website, they will not reopen until July 29. It looks like while they may not be open to the public, they will be busy housing all 26 MLS clubs competing in the continuous schedule of 54 total matches. Welcome to Disney MLS Players!
