Major Changes to Fastpass+ Being Tested Next Week

Major Changes to Fastpass+ Being Tested Next Week

Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the Orlando area will be testing a “grouping” strategy where fastpass+ experiences will be selected from two groups.

Guests can make selections from two groups of attractions.

The groups are currently setup as follows:

Group 1 (Only one selection can be made)

  • Toy Story Mania
  • Rock ‘n’ RollerCoaster
  • Fantasmic!
  • Beauty and the Beast

Group 2 (Two selections can be made)

  • Great Movie Ride
  • Tower of Terror
  • Star Tours
  • Indiana Jones
  • Lights, Motors, Action!
  • MuppetVision 3D
  • Disney Jr Live on Stage

There have been a large number of complaints about the lack of fast passes for guests not able to use the Fastpass+ system.  At times, all Fastpasses are gone for the day in record time leaving offsite guest with little or no Fastpass options.

It seems the reason for the testing is to divide the more popular attractions into different groups preventing all the A List attractions from being “sold out” of Fastpasses.

Those who already have FastPass+ setup will not be required to move into this test grouping unless you modify your existing selections.

A similar system will soon be tested at Epcot.  Nothing further on the remaining theme parks has been announced.
