Disney Confirms Magic Kingdom Will Shut Out Guests Through August

Visiting Magic Kingdom in the evening this month will be trickier than usual. Guests hoping to experience the park at night without a separate event ticket are finding fewer options on the calendar.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, the seasonal ticketed event, began on August 15 and has quickly dominated the park’s schedule. The party offers specialty entertainment, exclusive food and merchandise, and lower wait times compared to regular operating hours.

Tickets are not cheap. Prices this year range from $119 to $229 per adult, and fans have questioned whether the cost is worth it. Even so, demand has remained high enough to wipe out every available date in August.

August Is Off the Table Without a Ticket

As of now, the following dates are sold out: August 15, 17, 19, 22, 24, 26, and 29. On these evenings, Magic Kingdom closes to regular guests at 6 p.m., an hour before the party begins at 7 p.m. Only ticketholders with event wristbands can stay for the rest of the night.

September and October dates are also starting to disappear. Parties on September 5, 9, 12, and 19 are no longer available, along with October 7, 9, 10, and the ever-popular October 31. That still leaves several nights open, though they may not last as the season progresses.

What Guests Can Expect This Spooky Season

For those who manage to secure a ticket, the event highlights remain familiar. Disney guests – who are allowed to wear full character costumes at the party, regardless of ages – can enjoy Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade and the fireworks show Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, with Jack Skellington once again serving as host.

The Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular continues on the Cinderella Castle stage with the Sanderson Sisters. If you’re willing to put up with lengthy wait times, rare character meet-and-greets are a key part of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. As usual, Jack Skellington (whose costume has received an update) and Sally have proven particularly popular this year.

Other entertainment includes ZOM-BEATZ BASH and the Disney Jr. Jam dance parties, plus the Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quartet in Frontierland. Themed food and drink, such as the Madame Leota Séance Candle, Skull Meatloaf, and Magic Potion Slushy, round out the offerings, alongside what we have to admit is Disney’s best collection of Halloween merchandise in years.

(If you don’t believe us, some of Disney’s non-party Halloween merch has proven so popular this year that cast members have had to literally lock it away.)

Still, some guests have expressed disappointment about a lack of variety compared with previous years, particularly given rising ticket prices. Disney may be reaching the upper limit of what fans are willing to spend for the experience.

Even with those concerns, the event remains one of Disney World’s biggest seasonal draws. With August officially booked, the best option for those still interested is to grab tickets for September or October before more dates vanish.
