Disney World Confirm Plans To Remove Families From Magic Kingdom Four Hours Early
Tomorrow night, Magic Kingdom Park belongs to someone else, and regular Walt Disney World Resort guests need to plan around it.
The Buyout Behind The Early Magic Kingdom Closure
Magic Kingdom Park will stop admitting daytime guests at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, with all regular visitors expected to clear out around four hours before the park would typically close. The early cutoff traces back to a full park buyout by the SAP Sapphire & ASUG Conference, a corporate event that has taken over the entirety of Walt Disney World Resort’s flagship theme park for a private evening experience.
The centerpiece of that experience is a live Dave Matthews Band concert, for which the stage setup near Cinderella Castle was already underway as of Monday.
Getting into the SAP event wasn’t cheap. Conference tickets — now completely sold out — were priced between $1,699 and $2,399 per person, bundling full conference access with admission to the Magic Kingdom buyout.

Fireworks and Nighttime Parade Are Off the Table
For families counting on Magic Kingdom Park’s signature nighttime entertainment tomorrow, the news isn’t good. Any performance of Happily Ever After and the Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away electrical parade on Wednesday evening will happen exclusively for SAP conference attendees. Guests who exit at 5:30 p.m. will not have access to either show, inside or outside the park, as part of their regular admission.
Rethinking Your Wednesday Plans
How badly the early closure affects any given guest depends on the ticket type. Park Hopper holders can turn Wednesday’s lighter-than-usual daytime crowds to their advantage by arriving at Magic Kingdom in the morning, hitting popular attractions with shorter waits, and then hopping to EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park well before the 5:30 p.m. deadline.
For single-park ticket holders, the calculus is simpler: skip Magic Kingdom tomorrow entirely. The Central Florida vacation destination’s other three theme parks are running full schedules with complete entertainment lineups.
Thursday, May 14, is likely to draw a heavier-than-normal crowd at the Magic Kingdom as guests who avoided Wednesday make their way to the park. Longer attraction wait times, busier dining rooms, and more congested walkways are reasonable expectations, particularly during evening hours when Happily Ever After and Disney Starlight draw their biggest crowds.
