Magic Kingdom Fantasyland Location Will Close on January 4
A familiar corner of Fantasyland is preparing for a temporary pause, with Disney adjusting its plans for one of Magic Kingdom’s established character meet-and-greet locations.

Pete’s Silly Sideshow, located in Storybook Circus, will now close tomorrow, January 4, earlier than previously scheduled. Disney initially listed the closure as beginning January 5, but official calendars have since been updated to reflect the new date. No formal announcement accompanied the change.
The meet-and-greet area has long featured Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, Donald Duck, and Goofy in circus-themed costumes, greeting guests inside twin big-top tents. Known as Meet Dashing Disney Pals as Circus Stars and Meet Daring Disney Pals as Circus Stars, the experiences gave visitors a chance to see classic characters dressed as performers with coordinated looks and playful character concepts.
Disney has tied the closure to refurbishment and maintenance work on the Fantasyland structure housing the experience. While the company has not outlined the full scope of the project, permit activity from late last year suggests exterior repairs and general building maintenance are part of the plan. A reopening timeframe has not yet been shared.

Despite the earlier closure date, Storybook Circus will continue to host character appearances. Disney has confirmed that Minnie, Daisy, Donald, and Goofy are not leaving the area and will still greet guests somewhere within the land during the refurbishment period. Guests may find the characters in alternate locations while work is underway.
Importantly, the closure does not affect the rest of Storybook Circus. Big Top Souvenirs is expected to remain open, along with nearby dining options, ensuring that guests can still explore the area even while the meet-and-greet tents are unavailable.
For guests visiting Magic Kingdom tomorrow or later, Pete’s Silly Sideshow will no longer be operating. January 3 is now the final full day to experience the attraction in its current form.

This update is part of a broader set of changes unfolding across Fantasyland. Cinderella Castle is also in the middle of a repainting project this year, which includes a fully drained moat and visible construction equipment throughout guest visits. Those planning photos in front of the castle should anticipate altered sightlines while the work continues.
As Disney continues to refine its refurbishment schedule, guests planning trips focused on character encounters are encouraged to check entertainment updates regularly.
