Magic Kingdom Cabana Rentals at Walt Disney World Will be No More

After February 17th, the cabana rentals in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom will no longer be available to rent.  It appears that the popularity wasn’t there to maintain this service.  The cost started at $649 a day for the rental, which is in addition to the cost of theme park admission.  Disney dropped the price to $500, but that still doesn’t seem to be enough.  The cost included beverages, snacks, reserved viewing for the parade and Wishes, storage lockers, insect repellent, charging stations, shaded seating, etc.  This wasn’t enough for many guests to justify the costs.

This initial offering was only a “testing” phase, but due to the price drops and the announcement that the service will be discontinued, we assume that it may be gone for good.  It is possible that Disney will look for a different solution than the white tents and look at adding even more attractive perks that would help encourage the guests to spend the money on the add-on.  We will keep you all posted about any new add-ons that may be coming out.

Guests who enjoy a vacation in Walt Disney World simply must spend lots of time in the Magic Kingdom. The park opened in 1971 with the Walt Disney World Resort and is home to different lands which each feature their own unique theme. With attractions, entertainment, dining, and shopping designed to make guests feels as though they have traveled to different places like the most exotic corners of the world, space, and fantasy, the park is a favorite of many guests. While some guests love the Magic Kingdom for its classic and thrilling attractions, others love it for the wonderful details found throughout or the amazing entertainment. With so much to do and see in the Magic Kingdom, there are definitely some experiences that are so quintessential, they make the park what it is today. Here are the top five reasons why we love Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.

5. The Mountains

The Magic Kingdom is home to its very own mountain range composed of three totally unique and thrilling attractions. Tomorrowland is home to Space Mountain which brings guests into the intergalactic space hub Starport 75. There guests can board rockets which blast off to all corners of the galaxy. With high speeds and twists and turns in near darkness, Space Mountain is beloved by many guests. Frontierland in the Magic Kingdom is home to the other two mountains, including Splash Mountain. This thrilling journey has guests board logs and set sail with Br’er Rabbit who is on the search for more adventure. With several small drops and a final plunge into the Briar Patch below, guests are sure to love the wonderfully detailed scenes of Splash Mountain along with the soaking finale! The final mountain can be found right next door to Splash Mountain and brings guests into the mining town of Tumbleweed. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is the wildest ride in the wilderness where guests can explore dark caves, crumbling caverns, and the rollicking town itself at blinding fast speeds on runaway mine trains. No visit to the Magic Kingdom is complete without conquering all three mountains!

4. The Classics

In addition to the thrilling mountain range, the Magic Kingdom is also home to its fair share of classic attractions which many guests consider to be beloved. The world famous Jungle Cruise in Adventureland brings guests on a tour of the most exotic rivers of the world and even offers a rare glimpse at the backside of water. The classic Pirates of the Caribbean can also be found in Adventureland and allows guests to set sail with the swashbucklers through eerie caves and a burning seaside village. Liberty Square is home to the Haunted Mansion where nine hundred and ninety nine happy haunts are waiting to spook and scare guests. Fantasyland features the classic It’s A Small World where guests can set sail on the happiest cruise there ever was as well as Peter Pan’s Flight where the classic Disney animated film is brought to life. With plenty of classic attractions for all guests to enjoy, it is no wonder why so many love the Magic Kingdom.

3. The Underrated

While there are plenty of thrilling and classic attractions in the Magic Kingdom, there are also a fair share of experiences that are considered underrated and often overlooked by guests. This is a total shame as these underrated experiences are amazing in their own ways! Guests who spend time in the Magic Kingdom should be sure to enjoy Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, the Country Bear Jamboree, the Swiss Family Treehouse, Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress, and the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover.

2. Cinderella Castle

One of the main things that guests absolutely love in the Magic Kingdom is the beautiful Cinderella Castle. The icon of the park can be found at the end of Main Street beckoning guests to travel deeper into the park and enjoy all that it has to offer. With gorgeous details including amazing mosaics in the breezeway and gold trimmed turrets, Cinderella Castle is one of the most beautiful and iconic buildings in the world and guests who visit Walt Disney World absolutely love it.

1. Wishes Nighttime Spectacular

Perhaps one of the most beloved experiences in the Magic Kingdom occurs each night once the sun sets. Wishes Nighttime Spectacular closes each day in the Magic Kingdom and occurs high in the skies over Cinderella Castle. The show is narrated by Jiminy Cricket who reminds guests how important it is to believe in the power of a wish. Combining beautiful fireworks with Disney music and special moments like Tinkerbell flying overhead, Wishes Nighttime Spectacular is one of the most beloved experiences in Walt Disney World and definitely can’t be missed when spending time in the Magic Kingdom!

About Christy Caby

I am a diehard Disney fanatic! I fell in love with all things Disney from an early age and that only increased once I first visited Walt Disney World! It led me to complete a yearlong Disney College Program working at merchandise locations within Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Disney-MGM Studios at that time) and I worked for Disney Parks & Resorts Technology in Project/Program Management. Now I get to write about Disney and help others plan their magical vacations! Disney holds a special place in the hearts of my entire family as my husband proposed there, we honeymooned there, took trips while pregnant with each of my boys and have visited with them many, many times from 8 weeks old through now. One of my favorite memories from each trip is always the look on my kids’ faces the first time they see the castle. I’d love to help you plan your magical vacation!
