REPORT: Three Boats Sink at Disney World in One Month, Park Compensates Guests

A wave of unexpected ride malfunctions has struck EPCOT’s Living with the Land attraction, where three separate boats experienced sinking issues within just a few weeks. The latest incident occurred over the weekend.

Multiple Incidents in Rapid Succession

The first incident occurred on October 31, 2025, when two TikTok users posted viral videos of a boat taking on water inside the attraction. Riders attempted to shift their weight to stabilize the vehicle, but after their efforts failed, they jumped off and stood along the show scenes until Disney cast members could respond.

Current situation. Boat in front of me started to sink and all occupants had to evacuate. We ended up chilling in our boat until cast members escorted us off and out the back. And people say living with the land is boring!! 😆 #epcot #livingwiththeland #wdw #fyp #sinkingship

A second sinking followed on November 18. During that incident, water filled the boat fast enough to soak passengers seated inside.

Disney cast members arrived in time to help guests exit safely and offered everyone dry shoes and complimentary Lightning Lane passes. Guests could choose to board Living with the Land again or skip the wait at a different EPCOT attraction.

Over the weekend, another boat began dropping lower into the water while making its way through the Living with the Land attraction. TikTok user @beka027mmp, who captured the moment from a boat behind it, wrote, “Living with the Land boat might be going down,” noting that the situation “looked worse in person.”

Luckily, they made it! But it looked worse in person. Glad we didn’t have a Titanic situation on our hands. #titanic #livingwiththeland #epcot #boat #overboard

This time, no evacuation was required.

In the comments beneath the video, several Walt Disney World Resort cast members stepped forward to confirm that the EPCOT ride wasn’t operating correctly.

“The boat shouldn’t be that low down… -A former land cast [member],” one wrote.

Walt Disney World Resort has not commented publicly on any of the recent sinking incidents. Living with the Land reopened promptly after each issue and remained operational at the time of this article’s publication.

One Comment

  1. When a boat “sinks” the entire vessle is submerged under water. These boats were taking on water. One looked to be overloaded, could lead to taking on water. Having been on LWTL countless times. The water is hardly deep enough to sink a boat.
