Living with the Land, an EPCOT opening-day attraction, has received a fresh new look inspired by Moana (2016)—but it won’t be sticking around forever. As part of the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, the beloved boat ride now includes decorative elements that bring the spirit of the ocean into the greenhouse tour.
A Limited-Time Moana Overlay on Living with the Land
Since opening in 1982, Living with the Land has provided guests with an inside look at sustainable farming and groundbreaking agricultural research. The slow-moving boat ride takes visitors through EPCOT’s indoor greenhouses, showcasing futuristic farming methods that support Walt Disney World Resort and real-world environmental initiatives. While Disney has added seasonal decor to the ride before, this year’s Flower & Garden Festival is making waves with a Moana touch.
According to WDWNT, the attraction now features a display inspired by Moana, complete with her signature canoe and oar. It’s one of several Disney character-inspired additions, alongside references to The Princess and the Frog (2009) and Tangled (2010). Guests will also find Rapunzel’s frying pan and paintings, plus a Mardi Gras-themed setup celebrating Princess Tiana’s New Orleans roots.
Disney’s Use of IP in EPCOT Festivals
The EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival is famous for its breathtaking floral designs and elaborate topiaries of Disney characters. This year’s event includes stunning topiary displays of Moana, Maui, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Chip ‘n’ Dale, and more.
The festival runs from March 5 to June 2, 2025, giving guests plenty of time to experience Living with the Land’s seasonal retheme and exclusive treats, floral exhibits, and entertainment offerings.
A Deeper Dive into Agriculture on Living with the Land
For guests who want an even closer look at EPCOT’s famous greenhouses, the Behind the Seeds Tour offers a guided experience showcasing the science behind Living with the Land. Visitors can learn more about Disney’s agricultural innovations, interact with research areas, and even taste some of the produce grown onsite. Tickets for this tour are available inside The Land Pavilion.
