Would You Like To See Larger Capacity for Toy Story Midway Mania?

By Cassie

There has been a lot of speculation around Soundstage 1 being turned into a third, or possibly third and fourth track, being added to Toy Story Midway Mania. The attraction currently has two tracks that has served FastPass+, Standby and DAS cards but consistently have fallen short of the demand. If you do not have a FP+ you would have to stand in lines where a 1 hour wait looked pretty good. They often went over 100 minutes for the day. This attraction is perhaps the most in-demand on all of the Walt Disney World property.

This week you will find access only by FP+, no other guests will be admitted, including those with a disabilities pass. The attraction is testing numbers and gathering data. Don’t go to Guest Services for any help with this as they are not able to write you a FP+ for TSMM. The testing will end at the end of the week. This tends to support the speculation that Disney is adding to the attraction and since Oaken’s moved, the Soundstage 1 next door, is empty. You may still be able to acquire a FP+ if you are here this week. If you don’t want to use the FP+ system you will not be able to ride this week.

Where else have we seen an expansion of a Disney ride? Dumbo, in New Fantasyland added an additional ring of the flying elephants which is extremely helpful to families with small children. This is another family ride, and about the only one in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and would greatly benefit from additional capacity. Since this attraction opened it has consistently been busy and nearly impossible to get a coveted FP+ in order to ride. It is also an attraction that you want to ride again, and again!

Is it possible that Disney is finally seeing their way to add to the capacity? Fans of the attraction will welcome this. Disney has not made any official statements regarding this. This is just speculation until they release an official statement. The FP+ only will be taking place through October 9, 2014.

About Cassie

Cassie L. I am a lifelong Disney fan. I attended Walt Disney World in 1971, and was there during the opening week of EPCOT, and have visited the Disney Parks for than 30 times. I have had the privilege of visiting Disneyland as a child, and then again with my children. My family recently moved from the northeastern United States to the Walt Disney World area. I now have cast members in my family and enjoy hearing the magical stories at the end of a shift. I love visiting all of the parks and getting to try more Disney food and being able to share it with you to help you plan your own magical day at Disney.
