The man who has led Walt Disney World Resort through one of the most ambitious expansion periods in the park’s history is stepping down, and Disney hasn’t said who will take his place.
Vahle Breaks the News

Jeff Vahle announced his planned retirement on LinkedIn on Monday afternoon, after sharing the news privately with his team. His statement read:
“Today, I shared with our team that after 36 years with Disney, I’ll be retiring this summer.
I started my career as an engineer at Magic Kingdom, and I’m wrapping it up with the best job ever, leading Walt Disney World into a period of remarkable growth in partnership with our incredible Cast Members and community. I’ll be here through late July, so I’ll save the reminiscing for later.
In the meantime, there’s a lot ahead, from launching Cool KIDS’ Summer to opening Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets and an updated Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
It’s an exciting time at Walt Disney World, and I’m looking forward to being part of it in the months ahead.”
Vahle joined The Walt Disney Company 36 years ago as an engineer at Magic Kingdom Park. He assumed the role of Walt Disney World Resort President in 2020, stepping into a position previously held by Josh D’Amaro, who was promoted that same year to what is now called Chairman of Disney Experiences. D’Amaro has not yet issued a public statement on Vahle’s retirement, though he is widely expected to address it given the direct through-line between the two executives.
No successor has been announced by either Vahle or D’Amaro.
What’s Left on His Plate

Vahle’s retirement doesn’t take effect until late July, and if his LinkedIn post is any indication, he has no intention of coasting to the finish line. The coming months at Walt Disney World Resort are packed with milestones — the Magic of Disney Animation and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets are both on the horizon at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, alongside the updated Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run mission and the launch of Cool KIDS’ Summer.
Vahle is expected to spend much of his remaining tenure overseeing those openings and preparing whoever Disney taps as his replacement to take the reins.
