Is ‘The Muppet Christmas Carol’ Heading to Disney Parks? Here’s What We Know

The Muppets have been a part of Disney Parks for decades, though their presence has waxed and waned over the years.

Earlier this year, the long-running Muppet*Vision 3D attraction finally closed its doors at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. The move wasn’t unexpected — the entire Grand Avenue area, where the attraction was located, is being shuttered to make way for a new Monsters, Inc.-themed land that’s expected to be named Monstropolis.

It marked the end of an era for Muppet fans, who had already watched their on-park footprint diminish since the 1990s.

But change brings new opportunity. Another corner of Disney’s Hollywood Studios is undergoing a Muppet transformation: the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is being reimagined with a Muppet-themed redesign, and is set to debut sometime in 2026.

The ride is expected to ditch the Aerosmith branding entirely in favor of a chaotic, music-fueled Muppet experience that could breathe new life into the brand inside the parks. If that project succeeds, it could open the door to even more Muppet-focused expansions.

This raises an intriguing question — could The Muppet Christmas Carol finally find a home in the parks?

The 1992 holiday classic, starring Michael Caine as Ebenezer Scrooge alongside Kermit and company, has become a cornerstone of Disney’s seasonal programming on Disney+.

Its enduring popularity makes it an obvious candidate for a holiday attraction or overlay. While a year-round show might not make sense given the film’s Christmas setting, a seasonal experience would. A limited Muppet Christmas Carol pop-up — perhaps a festive makeover of an existing theater or attraction much like Haunted Mansion Holiday in Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland — could offer a balance between nostalgia and novelty.

For now, Disney hasn’t announced any such plans, but the timing feels right. With the Muppets poised for a creative comeback, and a new park presence already in development, The Muppet Christmas Carol could finally get the holiday spotlight it deserves.
