This rumor is gaining serious momentum: Coco might be coming to EPCOT. More specifically, fans are buzzing about the possibility of Coco replacing the Gran Fiesta Tour inside the Mexico Pavilion. And with construction projects wrapping up around the park, now might be the perfect time for some fresh magic.
The Case Against Gran Fiesta Tour
Gran Fiesta Tour isn’t a bad ride—it’s just outdated. Since 2007, guests have taken a gentle boat ride alongside Donald Duck and the gang. It’s cute, sure, but doesn’t reflect the depth of Mexican heritage or storytelling that the pavilion celebrates.
Meanwhile, Coco delivers both heart and authenticity. The film’s music, culture, and visuals have left a lasting impact, and the Mexico Pavilion already has nods to the movie in its decor and merchandise. Turning those nods into a full-blown attraction wouldn’t feel forced—it would feel right.
Other Parks Are Charging Ahead
Magic Kingdom is getting a brand-new Pirates-themed tavern and teasing the long-awaited Villains Land expansion. Animal Kingdom is clearing space for a Tropical Americas area, bringing Encanto and Indiana Jones into the mix. Hollywood Studios isn’t left out either, with many hoping a Monsters, Inc. overhaul is just around the corner. Of course, there’s also the Muppet takeover of Rock’N’Rollercoaster.
On the other hand, EPCOT is nearing the end of its recent transformation. The reimagined Test Track opens at the end of July. So, where does that leave World Showcase? The Mexico Pavilion could be the starting point, possibly on deck for the next update.
What a ‘Coco’ Ride Could Include
Picture this: glowing marigold petals, festive guitar music, and a journey through the Land of the Dead with Miguel and Héctor as guides. Disney could keep the ride’s existing layout and simply retheme it, just like they did with Frozen Ever After in Norway.
Guests could be treated to animatronics, music from the film, and maybe even a few emotional moments. Of course, the attraction would have to conclude with the iconic “Remember Me” playing guests out.
Don’t Count It Out Just Yet
There’s no official word, but a Coco ride is far from impossible with Disney looking to keep parks fresh and IP-focused. It would bring new energy to the Mexico Pavilion and add another beloved story to EPCOT’s growing lineup of attractions.
Until Disney gives us the green light, we’ll just have to keep dreaming—and maybe ride Gran Fiesta Tour again for nostalgia’s sake.
That would be a great Coco ride I would go on if it was built at Disney world Epcot center. I’m still waiting for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to get rethemed a second time to The princess and the frog splash bayou with Dr facilier. I’m already over with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride since it’s too empty and it’s a painful reminder of the April 1927 Mississippi river flood disaster.
