Another Retheme? Disneyland Breaks Ground in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Area

Construction equipment has moved into Bayou Country at Disneyland Park, and nobody at Disneyland Resort is saying what it’s there to build.

On May 20, WDWNT reported that wooden construction walls have gone up along the walkway between Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree and the river in Bayou Country — the section of Disneyland Park that was rebranded from Critter Country in 2024 when Splash Mountain became Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The barriers run parallel to the restaurant’s upstairs patio, rerouting the path Disney Park guests have long used to reach the Quick-Service dining location.

The construction presence is hard to overlook from the patio above. Wooden fencing that once bordered the nearby flowerbeds has been largely taken down, a digger sits on a cleared patch of bare dirt where plantings used to grow, and green scrim connects the far end of the construction walls to the existing flowerbed area.

Disneyland Resort has tried to soften the visual impact of the barriers. Signs reading “Our Grill Is Open. Come On In!” are mounted on the walls to reassure guests that the restaurant is accessible, and bear-motif lanterns hang above the signage to keep the area warm and inviting after dark.

No Explanation, No Timeline

What makes the construction particularly intriguing is the complete absence of any official explanation from Disneyland Resort. No announcement has been made about what the project entails, how long it will last, or what the finished result will look like. Whether this is a straightforward landscaping or maintenance project — or the beginning of something more significant for the two-year-old Bayou Country area — is entirely unknown at this point.

Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree is continuing to serve its full menu throughout the work, with both in-person and Mobile Ordering available. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh are operating normally and are unaffected by the construction activity nearby.
