Guests Trapped as Disney Monorail Stalls, Tow Truck and Firefighters on Standby

For many Disney World visitors, the monorail isn’t just a way to get around—it’s part of the magic.

Gliding high above the crowds and water, it’s a smooth and scenic ride that connects some of the most iconic areas of the resort. But recently, the magic came to a screeching halt—literally.

Unexpected Delay Turns Into Emergency Standby

A now-viral TikTok video shows guests stuck mid-route on the monorail, with voices overhead delivering instructions that no Disney guest ever expects to hear. First came a calm announcement asking passengers to report “how many guests are in the car” using the built-in phone system. That alone was enough to raise eyebrows—but things escalated quickly.

The monorail driver soon followed up with a more serious update. A tow truck, he explained, was en route to try and push the monorail along the track. If that didn’t work, they would have to call the fire department to evacuate guests from the vehicle.

Literally so scared… if the “tow truck” can’t push us back then we have to be evacuated by the fire dept #disney #disaster #scared #epcot #monorail #florida

You can hear the tension in the video—guests seated silently, listening closely as the driver calmly explains a situation that sounds more like a theme park disaster drill than a normal day at Disney World.

What’s the latest on the Disney Monorail?

Disney’s monorail is known for its efficiency, but it’s also one of the resort’s oldest systems, having been in operation since 1971. While updates have been made over the years, the current fleet—the Mark VI trains—date back to the 1980s. They’re workhorses, but as this incident shows, they aren’t immune to mechanical issues.

For guests on board, the idea of being stuck up high in a non-air-conditioned car with no movement isn’t exactly the dream vacation. Add in the possibility of having to be rescued by firefighters, and it turns into a Disney experience you never thought you’d have.

As of now, Disney has not released a statement about the malfunction. It’s unclear whether the monorail was able to get moving with the help of the tow truck or if a full evacuation was required. Either way, it’s a rare reminder that even the most magical transportation system on earth occasionally needs backup.

Hopefully, the guests on board were able to continue their day with only a minor delay—but for now, this story is making the rounds online, sparking questions about the monorail’s long-term reliability.
