Guests Pulled From Attraction After Being Stranded in the Dark
Since opening its gates in 1955, Disneyland has welcomed millions of guests to enjoy magical moments across its many attractions. And while the magic usually runs smoothly, unexpected ride interruptions do occasionally add an extra layer of surprise to the experience.
That was the case recently at Disneyland Park, where guests Hunter and Anthony (@hunterandanthony_) captured a unique behind-the-scenes moment at the beloved Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. The duo, who were riding the iconic adventure through the high seas, found themselves held at the attraction’s drop after reportedly hearing their boat “scream.”
Sharing their experience on TikTok, the couple documented the moment they and other guests were temporarily stuck on the ride. In the footage, a cast member is seen securing tethers to the boat before firefighters arrived to assist with a careful evacuation. The clip then shows guests being led onto the ride’s exit path before making their way backstage through areas not typically seen by the public.

This moment wasn’t the only one from their Disneyland Resort visit to catch the internet’s attention. In a separate TikTok video that’s racked up over 15 million views, Hunter and Anthony also shared footage of Peter Pan’s Flight in Fantasyland—this time fully lit—after a brief suspension due to unplanned downtime.
Guests visiting Disneyland Resort since mid-May 2025 have been celebrating an exciting milestone: the park’s 70th anniversary! Since opening on July 17, 1955, Disneyland has marked seven decades of joy, innovation, and storytelling. As part of the celebration, guests are enjoying an incredible lineup of entertainment, including the return of the Paint the Night parade, the mesmerizing World of Color—Happiness! at Disney California Adventure Park, and the spectacular Wondrous Journeys nighttime spectacular lighting up Sleeping Beauty Castle.
