Guests Denied Entry as Disney Skyliner Experiences Mysterious Mechanical Meltdown

For guests wrapping up their magical evening at EPCOT on Tuesday, the journey home took an unexpected—and rather frustrating—twist. Instead of enjoying a relaxing glide aboard the Disney Skyliner, many found themselves rerouted and bewildered as the popular gondola system faced what Disney only referred to as “mechanical issues.”

While the EPCOT fireworks were still lighting up the night sky, the mood turned sour at the International Gateway Skyliner station. Lines were long, as they usually are after park closing, but this time, the frustration wasn’t just about waiting—it was about being turned away altogether. Disney cast members began informing guests that the Skyliner was closed early, leaving many confused since it hadn’t yet reached its posted closing time.

One guest shared online that the situation escalated quickly, with those in line being instructed to head back through security and make the trek to the front of EPCOT to catch buses instead. Imagine capping off a 20,000-step park day only to find yourself walking even more, all while facing the dreaded post-fireworks bus lines.

To make matters even stranger, some guests did manage to board the Skyliner, but their journey was far from smooth. Reports circulated of extended pauses mid-air—those nerve-wracking moments where you’re left dangling and wondering if you’re stuck for good. Thankfully, they eventually made it to their destination, but not without a few elevated heart rates.

Since its debut in 2019, the Disney Skyliner has generally earned praise for its efficiency and spectacular views, becoming a fan-favorite way to get around the resort. But Tuesday night served as a reminder that no transportation system is perfect—especially one that’s suspended in the sky.

The Skyliner is scheduled for a short refurbishment next January, but this latest hiccup might have some guests wondering if a deeper look at maintenance is needed. Disney hasn’t issued an official explanation yet, but for the guests caught in the chaos, the magical evening ended on a mechanical sour note.

For now, it’s a lesson for future visitors: always have a backup plan. Even in the most magical place on Earth, things don’t always go according to plan—and when they don’t, the walk to the bus stop can feel like the longest journey of the day.
