GOP Senator Being Called a Hypocrite After Using Party Funds to Pay For Disney World Vacation

We are living in an age when people seem to be more divided than at any time in recent history. Things between the left side and the right have been tense for years, but that boiled over last week when documents were leaked that said that the Supreme Court intended to overturn Roe v. Wade. If you are unfamiliar with the ruling, Roe v. Wade guarantees a woman’s right to choose when it comes to her body and her pregnancy. Since the leak, many people from both sides have spoken out for and against overturning Roe.

One of those people to speak out in favor of overturning Roe v. Wade is Florida Senator Marco Rubio. On Wednesday, May 4, Rubio introduced a bill called the No Tax Breaks for Radical Corporate Activism Act. The bill would prevent companies from deducting travel expenses from their taxes if those expenses were for an employee traveling to get an abortion. It would also exempt tax deductions for companies paying for transgender care for employees’ minor children. The introduction of the bill comes after several major companies, including Apple and Amazon, said that they would pay for their employees to travel out-of-state for abortions if their home states did not allow them to get one.

Since his introduction of the bill, Rubio has received a lot of backlash and now people are calling him an outright hypocrite. Reports indicate that Rubio — in the past — has used GOP money to pay for things like movie tickets, flowers, a Costco membership, grocery shopping, and flights for his wife. Many are pointing out that Rubio once used GOP money to take his family on a trip to Walt Disney World. Rubio has recently been outspoken against Disney for its stance on Florida’s Parental Rights in Education bill.

One of those people calling Rubio out is Rhonda Harbison, who made a side-by-side comparison of Rubio saying that companies should not be able to write off travel expenses for employees to go out-of-state, but had no problem writing off his personal expenses.

Ms. Maria T agreed with Rhonda, pointing out that Rubio seemed unable to manage his own finances, while at the same time telling other companies how to handle theirs.

I forgot about Marco Rubio’s terrible inability to manage his own finances, and yet he sits up on Twitter and lords over the rest of us. Taxpayers paid for his family Disney World trips, wow, that’s expensive!

Rubio acknowledged that he did use Party money to pay for his personal expenses — like his Walt Disney World trip — but that he paid it back. Rubio’s new bill does have exemptions for employees who must travel because they would otherwise face serious health problems or death. His fellow Florida Republican Brian Mast has said that he will be introducing similar legislation into the House of Representatives.
