Are you going to the Epcot “After Hours Wind Down”?

Are you going to the Epcot “After Hours Wind Down”?

This is a new hard ticket event for $35.00 per person not including tax and gratuities.  It will begin Thursday April17 and run through September 15, 2014 running Thursday through Sunday evenings. It runs from 9:20PM to 11PM and when purchasing the ticket you will be choosing a single venue. It is advertised as having a flight of beverages and small plates of food to try.  You will then be able to order from the regular bar menu if you like at an additional cost.

If you want to visit another venue you must pay an additional $35.00 per venue. There is no reduced admission for children. The night that you choose your ticket for will begin right after illuminations and you will be given a wristband at the venue.  Only those with a wristband will be able to stay in the venues and the park. (Although Thursdayevenings are usually Extra Magic Hours for resort guests so they are able to stay in the park at the same time.)  The locations are Spice Road Table in Morocco, La Cava de Tequila in Mexico, Tutto Gusto in Italy, Rose and Crown Pub in United Kingdom.  You can purchase tickets for this event by calling 4407-WDW-DINE or at http://www.DisneyWorld.com/Spring. There are no discounts and it is not on the Disney Dining Plan.

Wanting to know more about this event myself I went in search of more information.  At Epcot Guest Services I was told that the event was decided on but the menu was not.  There is to be a meeting this week to decide the final menu choices.  I visited each of the Epcot lounges that will be hosting the event and they were apologetic that they could not answer me with full certainty in regards to the menu they would offer yet.  Many did have an idea of what they expected the menu to be. The individual restaurant’s menu on the Disneyworld website offered some information yesterday but it clearly says MAY include, not this is what you will get.

La Cava del Tequila told me they would have shots of Tequila followed by a learning session about Tequila and their different tastes and the food offering would include some chips and guacamole and were unsure of what else it would be.  They said the full bar would be open as well. The menu page on the Walt Disney World site now says “May include Acapulco-style Shrimp Cocktail and Tostados paired with a Tequila or Margarita Flight.

Spice Road Table believed they would be serving two kinds of wine flights, an appetizer and a dessert sample. A sampler they offer every day may be the one chosen and it consists of a Lamb Slider, Harissa Chicken Roll, or Moroccan sausage and the chocolate pyramid for the dessert.

Tutto Gusto will be serving a wine flight but were uncertain about the food offerings.  On the official website it now reads “May include traditional cured meats, cheeses and Italian Antipasti paired with Italian wine flights.”

Rose and Crown Pub will be serving a beer flight, a cheese plate, and a scotch egg.  They answered without hesitation so I expect this to be their offerings for the event. The Walt Disney World website shows nothing for this event at this venue.

This seems to be another Disney event that was not fully thought through when it was announced to the public. It would be helpful to know the menu and beverage offerings for sure so we can make a choice on which one to spend $35.00. Five days before the event restaurants should be able to tell you what they are charging you that kind of money for.  If you want to feel like you are really getting something special in staying in the park “after hours” I recommend you choose a night that does not have Extra Magic Hours. Currently Epcot has EMH on Thursday evenings that would affect this.  We will have a review of this at the end of the week.

About Cassie

Cassie L. I am a lifelong Disney fan. I attended Walt Disney World in 1971, and was there during the opening week of EPCOT, and have visited the Disney Parks for than 30 times. I have had the privilege of visiting Disneyland as a child, and then again with my children. My family recently moved from the northeastern United States to the Walt Disney World area. I now have cast members in my family and enjoy hearing the magical stories at the end of a shift. I love visiting all of the parks and getting to try more Disney food and being able to share it with you to help you plan your own magical day at Disney.
