“Fully Booked”: Disney Character Experiences Now Reserved for Exclusive Guests

An international Disney Park has rolled out a new system for character meet-and-greets, and the changes are leaving some guests feeling locked out. Now, select Disneyland Paris Resort character experiences, including those with the Disney Princesses, are reserved for exclusive guests—those with a reservation. As a result, many park-goers have found themselves unable to access these experiences, as the Virtual Queue slots are “fully booked” early in the day, making it harder to meet their favorite characters.

This new reservation-based system was introduced in June for two of Disneyland Paris Resort’s most popular meet-and-greet locations: the Princess Pavilion at Disneyland Park and the Meet Olaf experience at Walt Disney Studios Park. Guests can no longer simply stand in line and wait for their turn to meet the characters. Instead, they must reserve a specific time slot through the Disneyland Paris Resort app.

While the system has its benefits, such as reducing long wait times, it also has its downsides. For one, Disney Park guests who are less familiar with the new process or those visiting from international destinations may not realize the switch to Virtual Queue until it’s too late. And once those time slots are gone, they’re gone. Many families are left disappointed, especially as reservations fill up quickly.

On July 14, @PixiedustDLP shared images of signs posted at the Princess Pavilion and Meet Olaf locations. Both signs were marked “fully booked,” signaling that the Virtual Queue slots were no longer available for the day. One sign read: Dear Visitors, To hold court with a Princess, a royal invitation is requested.”

A few weeks ago, the Princess Pavilion in Fantasyland and Olaf meet & greet in Animation Celebration were added to the virtual queue system on the official Disneyland Paris app. #DisneylandParis

Disney Park guests who want to meet the princesses or Olaf are instructed to scan a QR code to book their “private audience,” but by the time they get to the sign, it’s often too late.

While this Virtual Queue system is meant to help manage crowds and improve the Disney Park guest experience, it’s causing some frustration among those who weren’t able to plan ahead. Fortunately, guests can still meet other characters without a reservation, but if meeting the Disney Princesses or Olaf is a priority, guests should sign up as soon as they enter the park. Registration for the Virtual Queue is available only after a Disney cast member scans their ticket at the park entrance.
