Frozen Ever After at EPCOT closes on Monday for its most comprehensive overhaul since opening a decade ago. The final day to experience the Norway World Showcase Pavilion attraction in its current form is Sunday, January 25, 2026, before Walt Disney World Resort replaces its notorious malfunctioning audio-animatronics with advanced sculpted figures.
Facial Projection Technology Gets Replaced

Since opening in 2016, Frozen Ever After has relied on facial projection technology for its Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven audio-animatronics. The system frequently malfunctions, terrifying Disney Park guests with “frozen” expressions or completely blacked-out faces.
For years, Walt Disney World Resort guests have envied the sculpted, advanced audio-animatronics on Frozen (2013) attractions at Hong Kong Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Resort. As Disneyland Paris Resort prepares to debut top-tier audio-animatronics in the World of Frozen at Disney Adventure World, EPCOT is finally receiving comparable technology.

“In a full circle moment of innovation, the Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff Audio-Animatronics figures will soon receive new updates after ten years of delighting fans in Frozen Ever After,” the Disney Parks Blog announced. “Taking inspiration from the advancements seen in figures at World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland, the Frozen Ever After figures will face the future of Audio-Animatronics (see what I did there?).”
Frozen Ever After Closure Begins Monday
Frozen Ever After closes Monday, January 26, 2026, for a multi-week refurbishment, replacing facial projection animatronics with new sculpted characters. Sunday, January 25, is the last opportunity to ride the original version.

Walt Disney World Resort confirmed Frozen Ever After will reopen sometime in February 2026, but hasn’t specified an exact date. Follow Disney Dining for updates on this and other developments at Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park!
