TripAdvisor has officially released its annual “Best of the Best Things to Do” rankings—and this year’s results include a surprise launch to the top. In a state already known for powerhouse attractions like Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort, the highest-rated U.S. attraction comes from a very different corner of the Sunshine State.
The Kennedy Space Center, located on Florida’s picturesque Merritt Island, has soared to the number one position among U.S. attractions. It even secured a prestigious third-place finish globally, coming in just behind the Eiffel Tower in France and the Basílica de la Sagrada Familia in Spain.
Offering a unique combination of history, science, and immersive storytelling, the Kennedy Space Center allows guests to experience the past, present, and future of space exploration. Visitors can marvel at the enormous Saturn V rocket in the Apollo/Saturn V Center, come face-to-face with Space Shuttle Atlantis, or even witness a live rocket launch—since the center remains an operational site for current NASA missions.
TripAdvisor President Kristen Dalton explained the significance of the awards via ClickOrlando, saying, “With such a huge selection of travel activities and excursions available on the platform, Tripadvisor helps travelers find the experiences that turn a trip into a lifelong memory. Whether you crave adrenaline or prefer to take things slow, ‘The Best of the Best Things to Do’ showcases the world’s top-rated experiences.”
Florida’s top parks like Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Universal Studios Florida, and Universal’s Islands of Adventure were noticeably absent from the list this year. Even as Universal opens its third park, Epic Universe, and Disney continues to roll out new experiences across all four of its theme parks, it was Kennedy Space Center that took center stage in this national roundup.
Guests to the center can also explore exhibits like Heroes & Legends, view authentic astronaut gear, or take the Kennedy Space Center Bus Tour, which provides an inside look at NASA’s facilities. Interactive simulators, historic spacecraft, and personal stories from astronauts make it a journey unlike any other.
With its blend of real-time missions and awe-inspiring exhibitions, it’s no wonder Kennedy Space Center rocketed to the top of TripAdvisor’s rankings.
