Fire Breaks Out at EPCOT’s Norway Pavilion in Walt Disney World

As reported by News 6 Orlando

This afternoon the Reedy Creek Fire responded to a small fire at the Norway pavilion at Walt Disney World’s Epcot Resort, Disney officials said.

The small fire broke out in the construction area of the new “Frozen” attraction at Epcot’s Norway Pavilion.

For a short time the entrance to the Norway pavilion was closed

Disney officials said the fire ignited in the back of the pavilion and was extinguished.

A Walt Disney World spokesperson said, a fire was reported in the construction area behind the Norway pavilion. Out of an abundance of caution, guests were evacuated from the attraction, the gift shop and the restaurant. They have since been allowed to return.

Thankfully there were no injuries or major damage reported and normal park operations have resumed.

Orlando’s News 6 helicopter Sky 6 flew over the park and spotted fire trucks on scene.

EPCOT plans on opening the “Frozen” attraction sometime in late 2016.

About Rick Killingsworth

Rick visited the Magic Kingdom in 1971 for the first Christmas parade in their history. At nine years old, he was bitten by the Disney Bug. He can still remember the sights, the smells, and the sounds. It truly was magical. It would be twenty years before he could afford to take his young family back to “The World.” It was the vacation of a lifetime, and they have been fortunate to go hundreds of times since. His daughters, now grown, still tear up when they see the castle (as does he).
