Get ready to rev your engines—Test Track at EPCOT is gearing up for a thrilling reimagining set to debut in late summer 2025! Nestled in the World Discovery neighborhood, this iconic attraction is being completely refreshed with inspiration drawn from the beloved classic World of Motion.
The journey toward Test Track’s exciting new chapter was first unveiled during the D23 Expo 2024, where Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro emphasized the momentum propelling Disney parks into the future. “We have Imagineers in place right now all around the world because everything we’re going to share with you is in active development,” D’Amaro shared. “Plans are drawn. Dirt is moving… We are doing everything you’re going to hear tonight.”
A collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and General Motors continues to drive this transformation. As Disney Parks Blog teased, “Walt Disney Imagineering has been working with General Motors on an all-new storyline–you’ll want to be all buckled in for an adventure. You might even see cars returning to the track (for testing…at Test Track…nice) with their new look early in the year!”
That momentum was recently brought to life when Walt Disney Imagineering debuted the new Test Track marquee. The freshly installed signage features a sleek, illuminated logo that mirrors the streamlined architecture of the attraction—sure to make a striking impression both day and night.
In March 2025, during Women in Construction Week, Imagineering offered a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into the attraction’s overhaul. In a video shared on Instagram, Carleigh, a Project Engineer with Walt Disney Imagineering, walked fans through a typical workday on site. The footage gave fans a look at the stripped-down queue, hinting at the sweeping updates to come.
Once it reopens, the attraction will likely be offered through Lightning Lane access, giving guests a faster route to the thrilling experience. And while Disney has not confirmed whether a virtual queue will be implemented, the recent changeover for headliners like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure suggests a trend. Both transitioned to standby and Lightning Lane entry in 2025, and on Cosmic Rewind’s first day of standby-only, waits reached nearly three hours.
Beyond EPCOT, the entire Walt Disney World Resort is undergoing a remarkable transformation. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is currently closed indefinitely, and new changes are on the horizon for the former It’s Tough to be a Bug! location. In the Magic Kingdom, land clearing has already begun for the upcoming “Beyond Big Thunder” project.
For fans of EPCOT’s blend of innovation and nostalgia, the return of Test Track is a beacon of what makes Disney parks continually exciting—classic themes reimagined for a whole new generation.
