Epic Universe Ride Gets Modified Seating to Welcome More Guests!

Universal Orlando Resort’s Epic Universe, which opened its doors in May 2025, has quickly become one of the hottest spots in theme park entertainment. With attractions that range from high-speed thrills to immersive worlds like SUPER NINTENDO WORLD and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter—Ministry of Magic, it’s no wonder that guests are flocking to experience it all.

However, despite the park’s many successes, some of its attractions have faced criticism for being less accessible to guests of larger body types. Recently, Universal has taken steps to address this, and it’s all about making sure everyone can join in the fun.

Stardust Racers: A Hit, But With a Need for Change

Among the standout rides in Epic Universe is Stardust Racers, a dual-launch roller coaster that has captivated visitors with its speed and intensity. A race across the cosmos, the coaster takes riders soaring at speeds of up to 62 mph, twisting and turning through a universe of brilliant colors and dazzling lights.

But while the ride’s excitement is undeniable, it wasn’t initially the most inclusive attraction for guests of all sizes. Universal, known for its thrilling coasters, had a gap in providing comfort for larger guests—a flaw they are now working hard to fix.

For many years, Universal’s attractions have faced criticism for restrictive seating. Many larger guests have shared frustration about not being able to fully experience certain rides due to the physical limitations of the seating restraints.

A Step Toward Inclusivity

Thanks to the efforts of popular theme park influencers like Plus Size Park Hoppers, Universal was made aware of the issue and has responded by announcing a plan to introduce modified seating on the ride. During their visit, the influencers tested the ride and demonstrated how the existing seating did not accommodate larger guests. This helped highlight the need for a change, and Universal responded quickly.

According to Universal team members, modified seating is already in the park, awaiting installation on the attraction. Each train on Stardust Racers will have one modified seat, and guests who need it can simply inform a team member before boarding.

Although the exact timeline for adding these seats has not been confirmed, Universal is clearly committed to making its attractions more accessible.

The Growing Push for More Inclusive Attractions

This isn’t the first time Universal has taken steps to ensure that all of its guests feel welcome. Other attractions at Epic Universe, including Monsters Unchained and Curse of the Werewolf, have also incorporated modified seating options.

Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry is another standout, praised for its inclusivity and ability to accommodate guests of many shapes and sizes. It’s clear that Universal is taking its guests’ needs seriously and is focused on making sure everyone has a chance to enjoy the magic.

These changes come at a time when Universal is facing more scrutiny over the accessibility of its rides. Larger guests have long pointed out that they pay the same price as everyone else for admission, yet they have been unable to enjoy some of the park’s most thrilling experiences due to restrictive seating. Universal’s move toward more inclusive attractions is a welcome step in the right direction and sends a positive message to its fans.

As for when the modified seating will officially be implemented at Stardust Racers, Universal hasn’t yet given a specific date, but it’s safe to say that the seats are ready, and the changes are imminent. This is a significant move for the park, and fans are excited to see how it will enhance the overall experience.

Are you excited about the changes Universal is making to its attractions? Do you think more theme parks should follow suit with modified seating options?
