EPCOT’s transformation continues to take shape as Walt Disney World Resort refines the look and feel of its reimagined World Celebration neighborhood. This summer, guests visiting the park will notice newly added landscaping around one of EPCOT’s most iconic features—Spaceship Earth.
According to WDW Magic, palm trees have been planted in front of Spaceship Earth, bringing visual cohesion to the area. “Over time, several trees in front of Spaceship Earth were removed, leaving the area looking sparse,” the outlet reported. “The new additions help bring back a more balanced and inviting look. These foxtail palms match the ones already lining the path toward World Celebration Gardens, creating a consistent look throughout the front of the park.”
World Celebration now functions as a central hub within EPCOT, joining World Discovery and World Nature as the three new neighborhoods introduced to replace the park’s original Future World area. These neighborhoods were developed to showcase EPCOT’s focus on innovation, exploration, and the natural world. Each one provides a unique experience reflective of the park’s long-standing vision.
World Discovery offers thrilling experiences such as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, while World Nature features attractions like Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana. In contrast, World Celebration serves as a gathering place anchored by CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza. These venues support EPCOT’s year-round festivals, including the International Flower & Garden Festival and the International Food & Wine Festival.
While guests have embraced many aspects of EPCOT’s redesign, the direction of World Celebration has prompted mixed reactions due to its lengthy development timeline. However, enhancements like the new landscaping are aimed at refining the area’s presentation and function within the broader park experience.
The updates at EPCOT are just part of the broader landscaping and construction efforts happening across Walt Disney World Resort. From the Tropical Americas project at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to the ongoing expansion efforts at Magic Kingdom and the reimagining of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, changes continue to unfold at the Central Florida destination.
