Epcot’s 35th Anniversary celebration is rapidly approaching on October 1st. The theme park first opened on October 1st in 1982. Walt Disney World is holding a major celebration at Epcot to commemorate the occasion. We announced yesterday that guests that will be in the park on October 1st for the celebration will be able to purchase special merchandise exclusively for the event. The merchandise is known as the “I Was There” collection. It is themed after the retro Epcot logo and colors from when the park first opened. Disney Parks Blog has also announced that there will be various other events at the celebration on October 1st to look forward to. We have the roundup of the events that have been announced thus far below.
Here is what guests at the park can expect to experience on October 1st:
- Celebration Guide Map: There will be a special commemorative guide map for the park as well as a Times Guide. They will only be available on the day of the celebration and found at the main entrance to the park and the entrance to International Gateway as well as Guest Relations locations.
- Fountain View Stage Celebration: There will be a little celebration show at the Fountain View stage. It is expected to start promptly at 10:01 AM. The Mariachi Cobre and the Voices of Liberty will both perform during the celebration.
- Special Fireworks During IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth: During the celebration there will be a special version of the usual fireworks show that will commemorate the anniversary of the park. The fireworks are scheduled to begin at their usual time, 9 PM.
- Epcot International Food & Wine Festival: The event isn’t exclusive for the celebration, but will definitely be going on during the celebration. There will be a ton of great activities and experiences to enjoy at the festival.
