This week, Walt Disney World Resort finally unveiled the results of a mysterious, months-long construction project in the Japan World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT. The construction walls finally came down, revealing a new kiosk selling mystery toys and collectibles inspired by anime, video games, and other popular characters.
In June 2025, construction walls appeared in a walkway near Katsura Grill in the Japan World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT. Imagineering permits listed the project as a “Gachapon Kiosk,” but Walt Disney World Resort said nothing publicly about the development. Construction walls expanded in July, and the nearby Garden House sake kiosk shut down in August.
This week, the Bandai Gashapon kiosk quietly debuted at EPCOT. “Gashapon” is Bandai’s trademarked version of the word “gachapon,” which refers to collectible capsule toys obtained in vending machines popular across Japan. The machines have increased in popularity across the United States in recent years, likely sparking their addition to EPCOT.
Walt Disney World Resort guests can use a vending machine to purchase their chosen toy. The capsules cost between $9 and $15 each and can only be paid with a card. Once Disney Park guests make a selection, they turn the crank on their chosen machine once to dispense the capsule and unwrap the toy inside.
According to WDWNT, the four-sided kiosk currently features officially licensed toys inspired by Nintendo titles like “Kirby and the Forgotten Land,” Sanrio characters, and anime like JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and SpyxFamily. The offerings will likely change throughout the year, so make sure to stop by on your next visit.
Despite the debut of the Gashapon kiosk, the Garden House sake stand remains closed. A sign on the building encourages EPCOT guests to visit the sake bar inside Mitsukoshi Department Store in the Japan World Showcase Pavilion.
