Walt Disney World Resort is implementing a visual navigation system around EPCOT’s World Showcase after more than four decades without clearly marked boundaries between countries. The Central Florida theme park is installing themed pavement dividers that help guests recognize when they’re transitioning from one nation’s pavilion to another as they circle the World Showcase Lagoon.
Mexico Pavilion Gets First Dividers

On Thursday, BlogMickey reported that Walt Disney World Resort is quietly expanding a project launched late last year to create distinct visual separators between the countries in the World Showcase. The initiative began at the Mexico World Showcase Pavilion, initially limited to the south side walkway connecting to the Norway World Showcase Pavilion.
Construction crews have begun installing the themed dividers on Mexico’s north side walkway, which leads to the World Celebration, World Nature, and World Discovery neighborhoods at EPCOT. The red-tinted pavement features a design with vaguely Aztec-style patterns, though it remains unclear whether this aesthetic will be exclusive to the Mexico Pavilion or replicated throughout World Showcase.

Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t revealed whether it plans to use the same design for all countries or create unique themed patterns reflecting each nation’s cultural identity. The World Showcase includes eleven country pavilions: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, The American Adventure, Japan, Morocco, France, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
Construction crews haven’t begun installing dividers around the remaining World Showcase Pavilions. Walt Disney World Resort has not released a completion timeline for the project. The phased approach suggests the project could take months or even years to complete all eleven countries, depending on Walt Disney World Resort’s priorities and budget allocation for EPCOT improvements.

X (formerly known as Twitter) user @davezatz shared a photograph of the partially completed themed pavement dividers on Mexico’s north side walkway. The image shows the new pavement covered in construction dust. However, it’s unclear whether this is temporary debris from ongoing work or an indication of how the finished product will appear.
How about replacing or at least pressure washing the rest of it. Looks terrible. Dropping Magical Express and new Lightning Lane revenue could surely cover this work.
