Disney World Faces Concerns Over Safety at EPCOT

EPCOT has recently come under scrutiny due to ongoing safety concerns, particularly within the new World Celebration neighborhood. Reports indicate that several areas have fallen into disrepair, with guests observing that certain sections are inadequately maintained.

Photos circulated on social media reveal disturbing images of uprooted pavement sections, which appear to be held together with tape. This noticeable wear-and-tear has generated significant alarm, particularly about the potential dangers to the many guests traversing these areas.

The situation raises serious questions about the integrity of EPCOT’s infrastructure. The use of tape for temporary fixes is alarming to many, as it signifies a lack of adequate resources or priority given to maintaining the safety standards expected of a premier Walt Disney World Resort theme park. These patches are not only visually unappealing but raise concerns about their effectiveness in preventing accidents.

Many EPCOT guests have taken to X (formerly Twitter) and other social networks to share their frustrations and experiences. Weeks after the first initial report about the broken pavement in the World Celebration area, @tomorrowventure reposted a more recent photo of the patched damage:

Can someone at @DisneyParks please explain to us what the heck is happening at EPCOT and why the center of World Celebration is literally being held together with tape?

This is freaking Walt Disney World. Not the state fair. Good god this is awful.

Some Disney Parks fans expressed feelings of betrayal, as many perceive the conditions as a stark deviation from the high standards historically set by Disney.

“I’m so utterly baffled and confused at absolutely everything that has happened with and to EPCOT in the past year or so,” @emmiejamess wrote. “I just don’t get it at all. You can argue all the parks have their respective issues right now, but EPCOT is literally falling apart.”

“There is no way to spin it,” said @wesomeTweet. “The center of EPCOT was a complete botch. Years of disruptive construction, hundreds of millions drained, and they can’t even keep the lighting functional. Working at its absolute best, it’s a fail. But in this state, truly an insult.”

Guests can voice their concerns through official Walt Disney World Resort channels, including Guest Services locations throughout the Disney parks.
