EPCOT Closes Guest Parking Lot for the Foreseeable Future

Walt Disney World Resort has temporarily shut down a significant portion of the EPCOT parking lot for resurfacing, leaving some guests searching for alternative ways to reach the park. Disney has not released an official statement about the project, but visitors arriving this week quickly noticed the blocked-off areas.

While many Disney Park guests rely on driving, EPCOT offers several alternative transportation options. Guests staying at Disney Resort hotels can hop on buses, take watercraft transportation, ride the Monorail or Disney Skyliner, or walk to either of EPCOT’s two main entrances: the World Celebration gate or the International Gateway near the France Pavilion.

For those who do drive, the changes are hard to miss. On August 26, WDWNT reported that workers were resurfacing hundreds of spaces in the Moana section of the Earth lot. Disney cast members had blocked off the area with cones and barricades, preventing any parking there for the time being.

The repaving has removed existing parking lines, which will be repainted once the asphalt dries. At this time, Disney Dining does not have a timeline for when the closed spots will reopen. It is also unknown whether additional sections of EPCOT’s vast parking area—divided into the Earth and Space lots—will undergo similar maintenance. The Earth lot includes Moana, Heihei, Crush, and Dory sections, while the Space lot includes Wall-E, Eve, Gamora, and Rocket areas.

Walt Disney World Resort guests looking to avoid the ongoing construction can park at the Transportation & Ticket Center (TTC) and take the Monorail to EPCOT.
