Disney World Makes Immediate Update to Christmas Festivities, No Notice Given

Guests visiting EPCOT for the launch of the International Festival of the Holidays were met with an unexpected surprise inside the Imagination Pavilion. A subtle but meaningful change to one of the park’s seasonal offerings appeared without announcement, altering an experience that many Disney Parks fans consider a Christmas tradition.

For the past several years, the holiday season at EPCOT has included a small tribute to the historic Imagination Pavilion. Beginning in 2020, the Journey Into Imagination with Figment attraction introduced a festive overlay featuring animatronic Figments dressed in light blue, ugly Christmas sweaters adorned with the classic EPCOT Imagination Pavilion logo. The addition became a fan-favorite and returned annually, even inspiring adult-sized versions of the sweater sold last year.

This year, Walt Disney World Resort expanded on the tradition by releasing a plush Figment wearing the same vintage-logo sweater. According to photos shared by X (formerly Twitter) user @MagicbandManiac, the plush is limited to two per guest:

But when fans lined up for Figment’s meet-and-greet experience on opening day, they noticed an immediate change. The walkaround Figment character was not wearing the vintage-logo version of the sweater. Instead, he appeared in a generic holiday quarter-zip that preserved the Fair Isle pattern, colors, collar, cuffs, and zipper, but removed the Imagination Pavilion emblem entirely.

Images shared by @MagicbandManiac show that the costuming team had created a custom-fit version of the sweater with wing cutouts, suggesting the logo was intentionally omitted rather than accidentally overlooked:

Walt Disney World Resort has not commented publicly on the alteration or provided any reasoning for the unannounced change. Guests can continue to meet Figment in his updated holiday outfit throughout the festival, which runs from November 28 to December 30, 2025. Despite the surprise change, the 2025 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays otherwise debuted its full seasonal lineup on Friday. Marketplace booths around World Showcase offer international holiday dishes and beverages, and guests can pick up a Holiday Cookie Stroll booklet to earn stamps while sampling select sweet treats. Completing the stroll earns a bonus dessert.

Holiday Storytellers once again populate the World Showcase Pavilions, sharing global holiday traditions and cultural celebrations. Santa Claus greets visitors at CommuniCore Hall, while Santa Goofy welcomes families at The Odyssey.

As always, the Candlelight Processional remains the festival’s most popular event. A celebrity narrator, a cast member choir, herald trumpets, and a full orchestra deliver the timeless Christmas story in three nightly performances. Guests hoping for guaranteed seating are encouraged to book a dining package.
