One moment, guests at Tokyo Disneyland were enjoying a normal day near Cinderella Castle. The next, every phone in the area was screaming an earthquake warning.

TikTok user @shiori_japan1 caught the whole thing on camera on April 1, documenting the seconds after alerts simultaneously fired across the Japanese theme park. The response was immediate and instinctive: guests dropped to the ground where they stood while Disney cast members directed families to shelter in place.

“Everyone’s earthquake alerts went off at the same time,” the Disney Park guest wrote. “When they heard the alert, everyone crouched down on the spot. We crouch down on the spot and wait for the shaking. It’s not shaking, so it looks like we’re okay this time.”

The shaking never came. But even with no tremors reaching the park, Tokyo Disneyland guests held their positions.

“Everybody’s sitting down, calming down,” the TikToker said in the video.

Disney cast members eventually made their way through the crowd to confirm the threat had cleared. A tremor had registered elsewhere in Tokyo, but Tokyo Disneyland was unaffected.

“The staff said it was safe, and everyone went back to normal all at once,” the TikToker wrote. “Everyone stayed calm and handled it really well.”

The response extended to guests already seated on Disney Park attractions. Commenter @sharleatherwood described what happened inside Star Tours when the alert sounded.

“I was there too! On Star Tours,” the guest wrote. “They made us stay on the ride and kept us bucked in. We stayed on the ride for about 10 minutes then they let us off…Normal day after that.”

Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea, the Ikspiari shopping center, and the surrounding Disney Resort hotels sustained no reported damage from the April 1 earthquake.
