The Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in Daytona might just be the perfect place to visit on the way to or from your next Walt Disney World vacation. If you have a Disney/Pixar “Cars” movie fan in the family, this is your chance to see Doc Hudson!
As shared by OrlandoSentinel: On display at the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America is a hand-built version of Doc Hudson, the cartoon character in the “Cars” movies voiced by film legend Paul Newman. It looks like the animated version, including a smiling front bumper and eyes in the windshield.
On loan from Kevin Jeannette’s car collection, Jeannette didn’t want to build a show car so he bought a NASCAR Truck Series chassis and two Hudsons and created a real-life Doc Hudson powered by a big-block Ford engine.
The voice of Doc Hudson (Newman), who died in 2008 at the age of 83, took it for a spin at Charlotte as Disney and Pixar nervously watched from pit road. Doc Hudson has made the rounds. It was on display at the NASCAR Hall of Fame for a year. “Kids are fascinated by that car,” George Levy, MHFA president said. “They line up and they are in awe.”
