6 Things We Love About Bay Lake Tower At Disney’s Contemporary Resort

6. Location, Location, Location

It’s hard to beat Disney’s Bay Lake Tower for location, specifically its proximity to the Magic Kingdom.  The usual bus service available at all Disney resorts is an option for guests staying here, but it’s not necessarily your best option.  You may already be aware that the monorail runs directly through the Contemporary Resort, which is connected to Bay Lake Tower, making it easy to hop on a train and get to the Magic Kingdom.  But did you know that there an even better way of travelling from Bay Lake Tower to Disney’s flagship theme park (and that’s not including the standard buses offered at every Disney resort)?  It’s actually possible to walk, and the good news is that it only takes approximately ten minutes (and no waiting in line required)!  This is especially beneficial for families with young kids who will be spending most of their time in this park; you really can’t get much closer to the action than Bay Lake Tower!

5. Coveted Views

While many guests dismiss this resort because it doesn’t have the whimsical theming of, say, Animal Kingdom Lodge or Art of Animation, the views from this resort are unparalleled.  Rooms with lake views have what is arguably the most peaceful view on property.  The Electrical Water Pageant can be seen sailing along Bay Lake, if you have a lake or MK view.  Magic Kingdom view rooms obviously have additional appeal, especially for families with young children, and these views are among the best MK views of any of the resorts on the monorail.  Turn your television to the resort station, and you’ll be able to hear the music while watching nightly fireworks over Cinderella Castle.  There’s just nothing like it!

4. More Than Meets the Eye

 Along with the amenities and activities you’d expect at any Disney resort, Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort offers some additional opportunities you won’t find at other resorts.  Twice a week, you can begin your day with an early morning yoga class (for all ages/ability levels) under the Skyway Bridge.  Mats are provided, and it’s a stress-free start to a fun-filled day.  If you’re in the mood for more relaxation, you can rent a private, poolside cabana for the day, half a day, or an evening. Standard cabanas with amenities can be reserved and include furniture, electronics and refreshments.  Amenities include furniture, electronics (such as cable tv and phone) and refreshments.  And the fun doesn’t end there.  Bay Lake Tower offers volleyball, fishing, jogging trails, tennis, motorized boat rentals, and a community hall with games and DVDs for rainy days.

3. Pirates & Pageants & Fireworks, Oh My!

 For an unforgettable evening of fireworks and fun, you’ll want to bring your whole family on the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage.  You’ll be treated to snacks and beverages before setting sail.  During your cruise of the Seven Seas Lagoon, your captain will test your Disney knowledge, regale you with pirate tales, and will have you singing sea chanteys in no time.  There’s no closer view of the Electrical Water Pageant, but even that is nothing compared to seeing the sky explode in fireworks over Cinderella Castle!  There’s even a surprise visitor waiting for you once you arrive back at the resort.  We can’t think of a more entertaining way to experience the magic of Disney at night!

2. Exclusive Viewing Areas

 For even more exclusive fireworks viewing, try the Top of the World Lounge at Bay Lake Tower.  It’s an excellent place for after-dinner snacks and drinks, not to mention the stunning, panoramic, roof-top view of the resort and Magic Kingdom, ideal for firework viewing. However, access to the Top of the World Lounge is restricted to Disney Vacation Club Members staying at any resort on property.  If you’re not a DVC member, and you’re not able to wrangle an invite from someone who is, don’t despair!  You’ll also get excellent views of Bay Lake and Magic Kingdom from the Sky Bridge, on the 5^th floor of Bay Lake Tower. You’ll be able to view and photograph fireworks without braving the crowds in the park, and no DVC membership is needed.

1. Holiday Fun

If you’re lucky enough to stay at Bay Lake Tower during the holiday season, you’re in for a real treat.  Head to the fourth floor of the Contemporary Resort to enjoy the massive, holidays themed gingerbread display right across from the Fantasia store.  This one is all about the treats. It’s a great way to check out some Christmas decorations and indulge in the magic of the season just steps away from your room.
