Three empty cans, a hammer, a nail, and a yellow cloth set out on a bright countertop, ready for creating themed tin can planters inspired by your favorite amusement park attractions.

1. Place a folded towel under an upside-down can. Use a hammer and nail to create 3 small holes at the bottom of each can.

White-painted cans rest on a sandy surface, joined by a painter’s palette, brush, and white paint bottle—ready for fans to craft magical Disney-inspired tin can planters perfect for adding character to any home or theme park celebration.

2. Paint the cans with white paint. You may need a few layers to get the color to look solid. Allow the paint to dry completely. Note: if there are any sharp edges inside the can, you will want to completely cover them with tape before painting.

A white tin can, yellow tape measure, pencil, and tape roll on a brown surface—imagine these as the crafty backstage essentials for building whimsical planter props or DIY tin can decorations to bring a bit of movie magic and theme park charm to your own space.

3. Use a pencil and measuring tape to lightly mark evenly spaced dots for creating a uniform Mickey pattern. For Mickey faces 1-inch or less, it’s ideal to mark each dot 2 inches apart. To create a colored band around the top or bottom edges of a can, use washi tape.

Vibrant paints, brushes, and a tin featuring iconic Mickey Mouse shapes are displayed on a tan surface, inviting Disney fans to create magical DIY planters inspired by their favorite character—perfect for bringing the enchantment of Disney parks to your home décor projects.

4. Use foam daubers and colored paint to impress Mickey faces and ears onto the tin. For example, use a ¾-inch dauber for his face and a ½-inch dauber for his ears. Allow the paint to dry completely. If needed, use a small paint brush dipped in white paint to “erase” any errors made with the colored paints.

Four playful potted succulents, a scoop nestled in soil, a gravel-filled pot, and an empty planter await on a tan surface—inviting theme park fans to imagine crafting magical centerpieces or whimsical DIY planters inspired by their favorite attractions at home.

5. Fill a finished planter with soil until almost full. Insert a small plant in each can and fill any empty space with more soil. Optionally, top the soil with gravel.

Five mini succulents in whimsical Mickey Mouse-themed planters—sleek white pots adorned with vibrant Mickey icons—bring a dash of Disney magic to any room. Ideal for Disney fans and park-goers, these delightful planters evoke the charm of Main Street as they rest on a wooden display.

6. Create a variety of planters in different shapes and sizes, and enjoy watching your plants thrive!

Note: Be sure to secure tape over any sharp edges inside the tin can before painting.
