Disney World Theme Park Closure: Final Day To Visit Confirmed
Walt Disney World Resort has locked in the last opportunity to visit Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park before another extended shutdown. Friday, January 30, 2026, is the final day guests can experience the water park before it enters a three-day closure beginning Saturday, marking yet another weather-related interruption to operations.
Last Chance to Visit on Friday

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park will operate Friday, January 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., then shut down through Monday, February 2. Walt Disney World Resort confirmed the schedule on its website on January 28 as weather forecasts predict another freezing Central Florida weekend with wind chills plunging into the teens.
Guests planning water park visits this weekend must adjust their schedules to Friday or abandon their plans entirely. Saturday through Monday offer zero access to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, with Tuesday, February 3, currently targeted as the reopening date—though that remains subject to change if frigid temperatures continue.

January has brought repeated closures to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon as unseasonably cold weather makes water-attraction operations dangerous and uncomfortable. The park reopened January 26 after a multi-day shutdown, only to close again January 27 and remain shuttered through January 29. Friday’s single-day opening provides a brief window before the weekend closure, which once again eliminates access.

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is closed for annual refurbishment, leaving guests with zero water park options from January 30 through February 2 unless they visit on Friday.
Refurbishment Next Month
While Friday is the final day before the weekend closure, Saturday, February 14, marks Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park’s actual final operating day before its annual refurbishment. The park closes February 15 for seasonal maintenance as Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park reopens.

Major refurbishment work is already underway on the Humunga Kowabunga waterslide despite the park’s intermittent operations. The attraction closed earlier this month, with construction permits filed listing contractors specializing in waterslide reconstruction. The rumored rebuild follows a recently dismissed lawsuit alleging a guest suffered lasting internal injuries from a “painful wedgie” on the slide.
The February 14 closure date remains firm regardless of weather, giving Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park just two weeks of potential operation between now and its refurbishment—though cold weather may eliminate additional operating days within that window.
Looking Ahead to Summer

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park will both operate from May 26 through September 8, 2026, during “Cool Kid Summer.” This marks the second consecutive year Walt Disney World Resort has run both water parks simultaneously—the first occurrence since 2019.
Disney Resort hotel guests checking in during the summer window receive complimentary water park admission on arrival day, adding value to on-property stays and ensuring access to whichever park guests prefer.
