Emergency Crews Flood Disney World Hotel, Property Overtaken Amid Christmas Crowds

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside became the site of significant first responder activity on Monday evening when reports of a fire sent emergency personnel rushing to the Moderate Walt Disney World Resort hotel. The incident occurred during the peak holiday week, when the Most Magical Place on Earth is at its maximum guest capacity.

Emergency dispatch received the fire call at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside shortly before 8:30 p.m. on December 29. Scanner monitoring account @WDWActiveCrime documented the developing situation on X (formerly known as Twitter):

Scanner reports placed the emergency somewhere on Riverside Drive within the Disney Resort hotel property. However, Walt Disney World Resort’s centralized emergency tracking system means the recorded address may not accurately reflect the fire’s precise location, as calls are routed to general coordinates rather than specific buildings.

No Official Updates Released

Walt Disney World Resort has not addressed Monday’s fire through public channels. Local law enforcement similarly has not issued reports about the incident at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside.

Authorities typically release documentation for criminal or suspicious situations at the Central Florida Disney parks, but rarely publish records for non-criminal emergencies, such as fires or medical calls.

Hotel Operations Remain Normal

Guests at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside and the neighboring Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter face no operational disruptions following Monday’s emergency response. Transportation systems, restaurants, and merchandise locations at both Moderate Disney Resort hotels continue to operate at standard service.

Visitors should avoid areas that are barricaded and follow all guidance from authorities or Disney cast members. Walt Disney World Resort implements protocols to minimize the impact of emergency responses on guests during their vacations.
