The Disneyland Resort magic took a sudden detour this past weekend when a shuttle issue at the Toy Story Parking Area left hundreds of guests facing an unexpected decision—a mile-long walk or up to an hour wait in the sweltering Southern California sun.
Typically, guests parking at the Toy Story Parking Area enjoy quick and convenient shuttle rides to Disneyland Resort’s main entrance. But last weekend, things didn’t quite go according to plan. According to several frustrated Disney Park guests, shuttles were sparse, leaving long lines of visitors standing on hot pavement.
One Reddit user, u/caren_with_a_c, shared a photo capturing the heat-soaked crowd waiting in line at around 3:15 p.m., with the caption:

The Disney Park guest spoke to a cast member, who told them that Disneyland Resort usually operates around 24 shuttles but was down to just 12 that weekend.
Although the reason behind the reduced service remains unclear, some guests speculated that it might be due to staffing shortages. Regardless, the limited shuttles couldn’t keep up with the crowds, leading many guests to make the mile-long trek back to their cars on foot.
One Redditor, u/Elegant-Square-6992, recounted a similar experience: “We left the park at 1:15 and waited twenty minutes for the first bus to come! Then at Toy Story lot there was a huge line of people waiting to go to the park.”
Others shared that Disney cast members even suggested walking as the faster option, with u/hashbash72 explaining, “We left at 6 pm yesterday. The line was completely full. [The cast member] said it would be a 35 to 45-minute wait. They were encouraging people to walk to the lot.”
The situation left some families frustrated and questioning whether this would become the new norm for guests using Disneyland’s Toy Story Parking Area. The ordeal even had some regulars suggesting that future visitors skip the shuttle and plan to make the walk instead—just in case.
“We’ve given up on the bus system here,” said u/EdmundCastle. “It’s never faster than just walking the mile to the parks.”
The reason behind the limited shuttle service that day remains unclear, and it’s yet to be seen whether this was a one-time issue or a sign of changes in Disneyland Resort‘s transportation options. In the meantime, many guests are hoping that the Southern California Disney park will take action to prevent a repeat of this uncomfortable experience.
