Disneyland Shuts Down Incredicoaster After Almost 7 Years

Disneyland Resort temporarily shut down the Incredicoaster last week due to an unexpected breakdown, evacuating everyone on board. This roller coaster, a staple of Pixar Pier since it opened in 2018, left several guests stranded nearly 100 feet up in the air, in full view of the California sun.

Things quickly took a turn when the Incredicoaster stopped mid-ride, leaving passengers in a precarious position on the steep hill. For a full 45 minutes, guests found themselves trapped in the blazing summer heat and the unrelenting sun. One of the Disney Park guests (@eltanke420), who was stuck at the top, captured the entire ordeal on TikTok:

“Well, we’re stuck,” the guest said as the video began.

As the minutes passed, Disneyland Resort cast members arrived on the scene, offering reassurance to the stranded guests. “We’re just going to wait for our maintenance team and hopefully get you guys out of here,” one cast member told the group. The team worked quickly to manage the situation, and in the meantime, guests were treated to some fun facts about the Incredicoaster to pass the time.

“I don’t know the specifics on what exactly happened, but something broke, so it has to shut down,” one of the Disney cast members explained when asked why the ride had malfunctioned. Though it’s common for Disney Park rides to face technical issues from time to time, this situation required a complete evacuation.

When the maintenance team arrived, they set to work, helping guests out of their seats and onto portable metal platforms that had been brought along for the evacuation. The process took some time, as the cast members moved from the back of the train toward the front, guiding each guest to safety.

After the last passenger had safely exited the ride, everyone was led down the emergency exit stairs and back into Disney California Adventure Park. The TikToker reported spending approximately 45 minutes in the heat, but it’s unclear whether any compensation was offered, such as a Lightning Lane pass. Disney cast members often provide such compensation during situations like this, but there was no official word on the matter.

Eventually, the Incredicoaster was up and running again, and the ride resumed its usual operation. Disney does not typically disclose the reasons behind ride breakdowns, and this incident was no exception.
