“Quit Being Selfish,” Fans Slam Adults for Drinking at Disneyland After Security Incident

Disney Parks fans are once again asking for Disneyland Resort to limit guest alcohol intake after a recent security incident at Disney California Adventure Park.

When Walt Disney opened Disneyland Park in 1955, alcohol wasn’t part of the experience. The company founder aimed to build a place for children and adults to have fun together, and didn’t believe alcohol needed to be served there.

But cultural norms have changed over the last 70 years, and almost every Disney park and Disney Resort hotel worldwide serves adult beverages to guests of legal drinking age. Who hasn’t heard of “drinking around the world” at EPCOT?

Still, despite its popularity, alcohol consumption at the Disney parks is controversial. Some fans think there’s nothing wrong with legal guests enjoying alcoholic beverages, while others believe it destroys the family-friendly atmosphere.

The debate only grows more heated when social media videos show intoxicated guests behaving inappropriately at the Disney parks. On July 2, TikTok user @just.another.day21 shared this video of Disneyland Resort security confronting a “drunk” man at Disney California Adventure Park:

“Don’t get drunk at Disney,” the TikToker warned.

One user claimed the man was a Disney cast member, and security warned him to watch his behavior or risk termination.

“The guy is a cast member and they were trying to help him keep his job,” @dirty6261 wrote. “I know cuz I was there.”

However, Disney Dining was unable to confirm this allegation.

Unsurprisingly, a feud broke out among Disney Parks fans in the comments. Many said Disneyland Resort needs to do a better job at restricting alcohol consumption among guests.

“Counterpoint: Don’t over serve at Disney,” said @geniusbill.

Some commenters said Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort should stop serving alcohol.

“There shouldn’t even be alcohol in a kid friendly park if people can’t control themselves,” @baby_les20 argued.

“Dont go to Disney just to get drunk,” @popsskimchi wrote. “You go there to have a good time. You want to get drunk, go to the bar. Quit being selfish. Family with children don’t want to see your drunk asses there.”

Still, other Disney Parks fans said that bad behavior from the minority of guests shouldn’t ruin the fun for everyone.

“I’ve been plastered but never belligerent or disrespectful!” @moses_1000 commented.

“Ppl who over indulge are going to ruin the fun for us all,” @user723024515 replied.

It’s unclear whether this guest was removed from Disneyland Resort or what behavior led to his heated encounter with security at Disney California Adventure Park.
