Disneyland Guests Forced To Exit Ride After Shock Track Incident

A ride incident at Disneyland Park prompted guests to evacuate one attraction yesterday evening.

The Anaheim theme park operates dozens of attractions daily, and disruptions remain relatively uncommon. Still, incidents do occur from time to time, occasionally requiring rides to stop and guests to exit vehicles early.

That appears to have been the case during a recent incident involving Autopia.

Autopia Ride Stops After Car Leaves Track

Autopia has operated at Disneyland since the park opened in 1955.

Located in Tomorrowland, the attraction allows guests to drive small gasoline-powered cars around a guided track designed to resemble a highway. The vehicles run along a center rail that keeps them aligned with the roadway.

The cars were originally designed by Walt Disney Imagineering legend Bob Gurr.

According to Disneyland guests posting online, an Autopia vehicle left its normal position on the track last night.

Images shared on Reddit show one car turned sideways across the ride track.

The vehicle’s position appeared to block another rail, preventing other cars from continuing along the route.

As a result, guests reportedly had to evacuate the attraction on foot.

Some visitors said they were given a complimentary Lightning Lane after leaving the ride. The service typically costs extra and allows guests to bypass standby queues at select attractions throughout Disneyland Resort.

The incident prompted discussion among Disneyland fans online.

“That rail is so massive both in width and height,” said one user. “Do the cars even go fast enough that they could hit that hard? I mean I’ve been dead stopped and rear ended by a-holes goofing off on that ride but never had something like this happen.”

Another commenter expressed surprise at the derailment.

“I can’t even imagine how f***ing hard they had to hit the car in order to set it free…which by the way has always been a dream of mine on this ride.”

One guest who had been in the area earlier said the attraction had been making repeated safety announcements.

“I was there earlier and kept hearing the announcement about not bumping the car in front of you. And I hadn’t ever heard it be so pronounced (I’ve only ridden it once…so idk),” the parkgoer said.

“Maybe this was why? Lol. I just know my ears picked up on it and I glanced over to see what was happening. Don’t know what time it was. Sometime this evening.”

Autopia Has Experienced Similar Incidents

Earlier this year, a video circulated online showing cast members pushing an Autopia car out of a grassy area beside the ride track.

Guests were also seen evacuating the attraction’s queue during that incident.

The situation followed another derailment reported during the summer of 2025.

Ride incidents at Disneyland remain rare overall, though the park has experienced several over the years.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad once derailed at Disneyland, injuring several guests and resulting in one fatality.

Space Mountain has also experienced derailments that forced guests to evacuate the attraction.

More recently, WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure at Disney California Adventure temporarily stopped operations during an incident that required guests to exit ride vehicles.

Autopia continues to operate at Disneyland today, along with similar attractions at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Paris.

However, versions of the ride have been removed at other Disney parks in recent years.

Hong Kong Disneyland closed its Autopia attraction in 2016 as part of a Marvel-themed expansion plan. The area is now expected to receive a Spider-Man attraction.

Tokyo Disneyland also removed its equivalent ride, Grand Circuit Raceway, in 2017 to make space for a Fantasyland expansion featuring Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast.

Despite those changes, Autopia remains one of Disneyland’s longest-running attractions.
