After 70 Years, Disneyland Attraction Is No Longer Exclusive to California Theme Park
The Disneyland Railroad has expanded beyond the Happiest Place on Earth through a new 12-minute video posted by the Disney Parks YouTube Channel, bringing the 70-year-old attraction experience to fans worldwide.
The 4K “sights and sounds” footage captures the steam train journey around Disneyland Park with stops in Tomorrowland, New Orleans Square, Mickey’s Toontown, and on Main Street, U.S.A. The video premiered on YouTube as part of the park’s 70th anniversary celebration.
Opening Day Attraction Goes Digital
The 20-25-minute railroad trip features Primeval World and Grand Canyon dioramas, plus a passage through Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Walt Disney, a passionate locomotive enthusiast, required a real steam train to circle Disneyland Park from its 1955 opening.

Disney built a 1/8-scale backyard railroad, the Carolwood Pacific, in the 1950s. The miniature train, named Lilley Belle after his wife, inspired the full-scale Disneyland Railroad. The Disneyland Resort attraction established the tradition of steam trains at Disney castle parks worldwide, including Walt Disney World Resort.
Rare On-Ride Video Released Starring the Disneyland Railroad

Disneyland Resort announced the video on X (formerly Twitter) with a Walt Disney quote:
“I just want it to look like nothing else in the world. And it should be surrounded by a train.” — Walt Disney

The footage covers segments from all four legs of the journey without narration or added music, preserving ambient sounds and visual details. The Disney parks rarely release official on-ride POV videos, making this an unusual offering for those unable to visit Anaheim, California.

The video allows international fans and those who can’t travel to experience an opening-day Disneyland Resort attraction that has been operating continuously for over seven decades.
