Disney Abruptly Closes Main Parking Area, Locks Out Hundreds of Guests From Parks

On Sunday, Disneyland Resort’s Mickey & Friends Parking Structure reached full capacity for the first time since the COVID-19 reopening.

The Mickey & Friends Parking Structure is the primary parking garage for Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and Downtown Disney. However, it is not the only parking option at Disneyland Resort. The Pixar Pals Parking Structure and the Toy Story Parking Area, located further down the road, offer additional parking spaces. Guests can take a complimentary shuttle, tram, or walk from the Mickey & Friends and Pixar Pals Parking Structures and the Toy Story Parking Area.

Reports from WDWNT indicated that when the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure reached capacity on Sunday, April 27, 2025, some guests were redirected to the Toy Story Parking Area. However, others found themselves stuck in long lines at Mickey & Friends, with the lines reportedly stretching “all the way back to Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa on the Disneyland Drive side and back to the Freeway exit on the Interstate 5 side.”

It remains unclear how long it took for guests in the long line at Mickey & Friends to find a spot at the Pixar Pals Parking Structure or the Toy Story Parking Area. As of Monday, April 28, the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure had not hit capacity again.

Parking at Disneyland Resort comes with a hefty price tag, with costs set at $35 per car or motorcycle, $40 for oversized vehicles, and $45 for buses or vehicles with extended trailers (the Toy Story Parking Area is the only lot to accommodate these). Preferred parking is also available for $55, but availability is not guaranteed. The Southern California Disney Resort opens its parking areas an hour before the theme parks themselves, and guests are encouraged to arrive early to secure a spot in their desired parking area.
