Quiet Disney Parking Update Could Impact Your Next Theme Park Visit

Disneyland Resort guests have recently encountered a quiet yet significant update regarding parking arrangements at the Southern California theme parks.

When arriving at Disneyland Resort by car, guests typically have several parking options. The Mickey & Friends and Pixar Pals Parking Structures are the go-to spots for most, offering ample parking space within walking distance (or a short tram ride) from Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and the Downtown Disney District. A few miles down the road, the Toy Story Parking Area provides additional space with free shuttles to the parks.

Standard parking in these areas costs $35 per car or motorcycle, while oversized vehicles are charged $40 to $45, depending on the size (only at the Toy Story Parking Area). Preferred parking is also available at all three locations for $55 per vehicle, depending on availability. However, recent reports have shown a change in the usual parking process that could impact Southern California Disney Park guests’ upcoming visits.

On July 1, WDWNT reported that Disneyland Resort had placed construction walls around a large section of the top floor of the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure. The walls, which are covered with scrim to obscure the area behind them, have caused a shift in how vehicles are directed. In the row nearest to the walls, Disney cast members are reportedly guiding cars to drive in the opposite direction of the painted arrows on the ground.

Disneyland Resort has not provided specific information about the reason for the construction, so it is unclear whether they are related to routine maintenance or a new project happening on the roof of the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure. This is not the first time Disney Resort has experienced temporary parking disruptions—just a few months ago, a car fire in the Pixar Pals Parking Structure led to part of the garage being closed off. However, the construction walls in the Mickey & Friends garage do not appear to be connected to that incident.

It remains unclear when the construction walls will be removed or when the affected section of the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure will be reopened.
